Participation in any Golden State Grind program requires completion of the official Parent Waiver, Release of Liability, and Use of Likeness form at the time of registration.
By submitting this form, you acknowledge and agree that participation in baseball and softball activities involves inherent risks, including the potential for injury. You voluntarily assume all such risks.
You further agree to fully release, waive, and discharge Golden State Grind, Duby Baseball, Martinez Baseball Club, Marathon Refinery, and all affiliated entities, including their directors, founders, owners, board members, officers, employees, coaches, staff, volunteers, agents, partners, and representatives (collectively, the “Released Parties”), from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action arising out of or related to participation in camp activities.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Training sessions, games, and competitions
- Use of facilities and equipment
- Travel to and from camp

Duby Baseball is proud to introduce a revolutionary approach to Pitch Design for pitchers. This program focuses on optimizing the rotation of the three primary pitches: the 4-seam fastball, change-up, and a forward rotating breaking pitch.
The key to effective pitch design lies in the direction and rotation towards the target. Before you can perfect these pitches, however, you must first solidify your pitching mechanics. Even with sound mechanics, achieving consistent direction and rotation can be challenging, but it’s crucial. If a pitch is thrown with improper rotation, it will be obvious to a trained eye, and that’s where Pitch Design comes in.

Billy Duby – Professional Pitcher | Coach | Founder of Golden State Grind & Duby Baseball
Billy Duby is a former Division I right-handed pitcher and the founder of Duby Baseball, a premier baseball development organization based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Known for his elite playing background and sharp pitching IQ, Duby has quickly built a reputation as one of the top up-and-coming instructors and player development specialists in the region.
Baseball Career
Billy’s baseball journey began at Miramonte High School in Orinda, California, where he earned widespread recognition in 2018, including:
- Diablo Athletic League MVP & Pitcher of the Year
- MaxPreps Miramonte Player of the Year
- Will Newton Memorial Award (for Character, Leadership, and Competitiveness)
- Cal-Hi Sports All-State and multiple NorCal Player of the Week honors
After high school, Duby pitched for Diablo Valley College (DVC), contributing to the Vikings’ staff during the 2020–2021 season. He then advanced to Western Kentucky University (WKU) and later to Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he completed his collegiate playing career.
Duby’s talents extended well beyond the college season. He competed in three seasons of the Florida Collegiate Summer League, where he was a standout performer. In 2023, he was selected to pitch in the prestigious National Alliance of College Summer Baseball Prospect Games, where he struck out all three batters he faced while touching 94 mph.
Later that same summer, Duby appeared for the Party Animals in their national tour against the viral Savannah Bananas, showcasing his skills in front of packed stadiums and massive online audiences.
Following his college career, Billy signed professionally with the Oakland Ballers of the Pioneer League, but was traded prior to the season to the Ottawa Titans of the Frontier League, where he made an immediate impact—earning All-Star honors in his rookie year.
Education
In addition to his success on the field, Duby has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to academics:

Certificate in Organizational Leadership – Western Kentucky University - Associate of Arts in Communications & General Education – Diablo Valley College

JEREMY BRYS- GOLDEN STATE GRIND DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY RELATIONS
Jeremy Brys is a passionate advocate for the values and mission of our organization. After reviewing our proprietary BLUE COLLAR BLUEPRINT, he immediately became a believer and volunteered to help us advance our mission.
Jeremy is currently the Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Berean Christian High School, a role he has held since 2016. His coaching career also includes experience at Las Lomas High School and various youth baseball teams.
A native of San Ramon, Jeremy graduated from De La Salle High School, where his passion for baseball was ignited.
With a wealth of coaching experience and a deep commitment to mentoring student-athletes, Jeremy brings invaluable resources and enthusiasm to the Grind.
He is dedicated to guiding young athletes through baseball, teaching them life lessons that extend far beyond the field. Jeremy's philosophy centers on discipline, hard work, accountability, teamwork, and the importance of having fun—all principles that empower athletes to excel in both baseball and life.
As a key member of our team, Jeremy is responsible for building our program through strong community support, helping our players achieve unprecedented success. He will run camps, coach, and provide direct instruction as needed to ensure the growth and development of our athletes.
In addition to his coaching expertise, Jeremy’s business acumen is an essential asset to our long-term goals. His knowledge will play a critical role in helping us provide the exposure our players need to reach the highest levels of success, both on the field and in life.
JOE AIVAZIAN - GOLDEN STATE GRIND DIRECTOR OF PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
Joe Aivazian is an experienced baseball coach who has had a significant impact on teams across various schools and travel programs, including Alhambra High School, Berean Christian High School, Las Lomas High School, College Park High School, and several travel baseball teams.
His keen attention to detail in designing training programs and game plans has earned him the respect of both players and colleagues. With a wealth of baseball and life experiences, Joe is the driving force behind the successful execution of the Blue Collar Blueprint at Golden State Grind.
A passionate advocate for baseball, Joe is dedicated to sharing his love for the game with the next generation of players. His journey with Golden State Grind began when he recognized the urgent need to provide players with a solid foundation in baseball fundamentals and a deeper understanding of the game's intricacies.
Joe’s coaching style is uniquely inspiring, blending enthusiasm and expertise, which has a profound and lasting impact on every player in the program.
Joe leads our camps, advanced training curriculum, program structure, high school preparation, and college player development. He prioritizes personal growth and athletic development through a rigorous training approach that fosters an elite performance mindset. By focusing on the cultivation of confidence, dedication, and perseverance, Joe instills a hard work ethic that drives players to achieve their full potential.
AARON MILES - GOLDEN STATE GRIND DIRECTOR OF BASEBALL PERFORMANCE
Aaron Miles is a Major League Baseball veteran and the current Manager of the Oakland Ballers.
Drafted by the Houston Astros, Aaron had a successful MLB career with the Chicago White Sox, Colorado Rockies, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, and Los Angeles Dodgers. Notably, he was part of two NCS championship teams and clinched a World Series title with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2006.
Known for his blue-collar work ethic, toughness, and fearlessness, Aaron’s grit extended beyond the baseball field. In 2000, during spring training with the Astros, Aaron's mental and physical resilience were tested when he was taken hostage by two gunmen at his hotel. After a tense standoff, Aaron wrestled one of the gunmen to the ground, allowing the police to subdue the situation.
Aaron retired from Major League Baseball in 2011 after playing one final season with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Over the course of his career, he maintained a .281 batting average and proved to be a clutch performer—leading the National League with a .357 batting average with runners on base in 2011.
Aaron's versatility, baseball intelligence, and mental approach to the game have made him an invaluable coach and mentor. He has played a key role in developing the baseball knowledge and on-field performance of Golden State Grind players. His insights and leadership continue to benefit the team, making him an essential resource for both players and staff.

AUSTIN FITZPATRICK - GOLDEN STATE GRIND DIRECTOR OF BASEBALL INSTRUCTION
Austin Fitzpatrick is a distinguished baseball professional renowned for his leadership and commitment to player development.
As the player/manager of the San Rafael Pacifics, he guided the team to a remarkable 39–8 record and secured the 2023 Pecos League Championship under his leadership.
In his role at the Golden State Grind, Austin serves as the Director of Baseball Instruction, providing players with accurate, up-to-date information and fostering a strong sense of community. He is dedicated to implementing the organization's "Blue Collar Blueprint," focusing on mental and physical wellness to help players maximize their skills and reach their full potential.
Austin's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from California State University, Stanislaus.
His playing career began at St. Patrick-St. Vincent High School in Benicia, California, where he honed his skills before advancing to collegiate baseball. He played in the California Collegiate League for St. Mary's College, Napa Valley College, and Cal State University Stanislaus. Professionally, Austin played for the Napa Silverados, Billings Mustangs, and San Rafael Pacifics.
Austin Fitzpatrick's dedication to the sport and his players underscores his significant impact on baseball both on and off the field.
AARON SAMONTE - GOLDEN STATE GRIND DIRECTOR OF CATCHING
AUSTIN FITZPATRICK - GOLDEN STATE GRIND DIRECTOR OF BASEBALL INSTRUCTION
Aaron Samonte is responsible for implementing the catching curriculum at Golden State Grind. He teaches key fundamentals such as how to get into a relaxed position, roll the knees and hips back, and keep the glove out front. Aaron emphasizes the importance of communication by teaching players how to effectively use their voice on the field. He also focuses on pitch selection, instructing players on the use of pre-pitch hand signals to suggest pitch choices. Aaron coaches players to get in front of the ball with their bodies instead of relying too much on their gloves and helps them develop a deeper understanding of their pitchers. He also stresses the importance of learning from mistakes and teaching players to face up to and grow from those moments.
In addition to his role in catching instruction, Aaron Samonte serves as an assistant coach, responsible for instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of baseball. He organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities as directed by the head coach. Aaron is committed to assessing player skills, monitoring their performance during competition and practice, and keeping the head coach informed on the athletic development of the players. He supports the head coach with the administration of the program, training of players, and the development of competition strategy. Aaron also makes recommendations regarding individual and team performance and works closely with other coaching staff members to plan all aspects of the program.
